What a great article. This article is the perfect example of how a small newspaper can dominate the national competition when the writters and editors try to think and write outside the box. By that, I mea that they focus on something in debt and not just the regular news stories. In this case 13 miners were trapped in a West Virginia coal mine. They all died and the story hit the air and papers the same day a woman in Kentucky was preparing to bury her husband. The woman burying her husband. was the wife of a miner that bled to death three days before the 13 men died. No news teams came to cover her story, even though he was brutally killed, and people should be aware of how he died, what she is going through, and the dangers of the job, besides what had haooened to the 13 men.

I also really like how the article goes even further to investigate miner realted deaths dating back to the 90's. It was so interesting how the article went into an investigation and an in dept look of the job dangers and lives of miners. More small news stations and firms should model around this type of research and story content.

While I believe that the 13 miners were deserving of the media attention they received upon their untimely deaths, I agree with you that these smaller and less sensational stories often get lost. It's nice to see that a newspaper is giving recognition not only to the blockbuster type stories, but also to the humble and deserving who died quietly.
